XVIII International Conference on Physics, Thin Film Technology and Nanosystems named after Dmytro Freik started today. The Conference is organized by Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University and is named after the Conference founder, a famous Ukrainian scientist, Professor of Precarpathian University, Dmytro Mykhailovych Freik. The first conference was held in May 1975. The international forum is to last 4 days and is to be held in a mixed format.
The PNU Vice-rector in charge of scientific work Professor Valentyna Iakubiv greeted the Conference participants on behalf of the PNU President, Professor Ihor Tsependa, and wished them fruitful work for the development of science.
“The subject of the Conference is vital as the issues related to nanomaterials and nanostructures are the issues of the future. Owing to the issues discussed at the Conference, it became widely known outside Ukraine. The results of the research of scientists from different countries of the world have been presented at the Conference. The Conference Proceedings will be published in the Web of Science and Scopus international editions. During the Conference you will be able to exchange your experience, to discuss common prospects and major development areas. I wish you to hear interesting speeches, heated discussions and new ideas,” said Valentina Iakubiv in her opening speech.
The Head of the Conference Organizing Committee, Professor Volodymyr Prokopiv, Head of the Physics and Solid State Chemistry Department, pointed out that about 500 scientists from different countries submitted about 200 abstracts of their researches. Ukrainian scientists, including those from Precarpathian National University, as well as scientists from Poland, Hungary, Lithuania, Azerbaijan, Slovakia, Izrael, Germany and the USA are to make speeches at the Conference. There will be seven workshops: “Thin film technology (metals, semiconductors, dielectrics, conducting polymers) and methods of their research”, “Nanotechnologies, nanomaterials and quantum size structures”,”Physico-chemical peculiarities of thin films”, “Thin film elements of electronic devices, nanoelectronics” and others. “I hope that during this international forum we will hear our colleagues’ deep theoretical ideas and concrete guidelines, which will contribute to putting into practice new achievements and technologies aimed at defining humanity’s further development,” stated Volodymyr Prokopiv.
